“People used to say they got a bigger breakfast, for less, here than at home,” says Jamal. “Now, those same breakfast and lunch specials that I created before are back.”
Regulars are already flocking in to start their day with the $4.79 “Harbor Starter” dine-in breakfast special--two eggs any style, choice of meat, home fries or grits, toast, and coffee. The dine-in lunch special, now called “Quick Pick,” is a half-sandwich, cup of soup or salad, and drink for $5.79.
But that’s only part of the story. Why sit home eating breakfast or lunch by yourself when you can come in and feel the love that’s always made Joseph’s special?
Jamal’s mom, Mary, confides, “Some of the older ones, we used to worry when we didn’t see them for a while. They’d call to tell us if they weren’t going to be here.” Now she can check on them again.
“It feels good to be back!” says Jamal.
